School uniforms around the world
- Jan 17, 2017 -

A school uniform is a uniform worn by students primarily for a school or otherwise educational institution. They are common in primary and secondary schools in various countries. The fabric composition mostly used for school uniforms are 100% cotton fabrics, CVC fabrics and polyester cotton fabrics.

It is difficult to trace the origins of the uniform as there is no comprehensive written history but rather a variety of known influences. Little is known prior to the Archbishop of Canterbury ordered monks to wear a specific monastic form of dress. Despite this example, the roots of the modern day uniform come mostly from the collegiate uniforms in England. Universities, primary schools and secondary schools used uniforms as a marker of class and status, which in turn served as a boundary.

Whether you loved them or hated them when growing up, school uniforms have long been a subtle but important way to show membership of a community and pride of education. Lets see the photoes which photographers around the world captured and showing the beauty and cultural pride each uniform displays.
